Danielle decides to try talking to the fog to determine if it's sentient and others join in. The results are mixed. Danielle asks who or what the fog is and it spits out a bunch of trumps and a signet ring. These could be used to identify people, but no one the group knows. A question about why the fog is there gets a bent and tarnished shield in response. Dirk's question about his daughter results in silence while Maggie's response for something useful gets her attacked. It seems as though the fog understands and responds to the words and actions of others but in sometimes vague and unpredictable ways.
