Cold War

Story Emits

~No, no, the fountain froze. And then it called for a truce.
-You're talking bull. Again.
~I swear it. Cold wind. The doves froze solid. And the fountain talked. It's that woman's fault. The one who was messing with it.
-It's always a woman's fault. I should never have married you.

Filinia, the brown-haired woman in brown, threw a fit of rage today over not being allowed to mend a fountain because there was magic going on. She's so inconvenient. But she pushed Daniella - is that her name - into the fountain, and stormed off. And she broke Doriam.... is it Doriam or Doriam? His nose. And that Diire... guy... Dirk? So many names beginning with D. No, that wasn't what she was angry about. It was all the magic they were doing. A ritual, you see?
EVERYTHING FROZE! ... well, nearly everything. In the lower city...square. By the fountain. Where those people are. It's still really cold there, despite sunny weather elsewhere, or gentle rain. In that one place, a blizzard blows.
The cold, cold fountain in the lower city has taken more victims. This time it was Dirk, Danielle, and Filinia. Dirk and Danielle were stolen right away by a mist that took them into the fog - Filinia was frozen solid and shattered into bits!
Despite the cold by the fountain which continues unabated, something odd happened by the palace. Not that there's much of a change there - the ghosts are all there and still ignore anyone who goes near to them. But there was a flash of blue light at one point and then it vanished. Nobody is quite sure why.
No more sudden coldness by the fountain in the lower square today, but sudden madness instead. A demon took hold of Danielle's hair and Dirk had to cut it all off. He was crying out about blood! And then he ripped up a cloak that the hospital woman with the precious stone name gave him, and was plaiting it, and then they danced around the fountain. They left all the bits of cloth there, and the hair, and nobody can get near it any more...
Those crazy folks who keep wandering off into the fog came back again. Somehow. But this time, they brought someone else with them, on a sled. She didn't look too good but they did bring her back. Don't ask me what they'll find next.
The new red-head in town, Tanya, has been taking time out from being in hospital to scribble around the dolphin fountain in red paint, drink, fight, remember she is already severely injuted, and check back into hospital. In addition, they say she's seduced a nurse, and carries a dirk in her sock.

Notably, the fountain is now written all over in red greaseproof pencil, and the walls of the structure surrounding it have been removed. It still has a roof, and a waist-high rail around it, but access, and vision, are both easier.
