For this time of evening in the lowers, there is an odd almost frenetic, thrum of activity in the lowers. People carry empty buckets of water to the fountain and then full buckets away. outside the hospital a linegrows,Children being carried. Elder folk leaning heavily on companions

Lucafrase, probably selling her wares a few paces away, would've caught sight of Danielle and Amethyst. Hanging a 'BACK IN TEN' sign near her stall, she angles for them after a brief stop-over at the skewer stall. So armed, she marches over. "The tripe and liver are mine, but have at?" Free meat! Is this the best day ever?!

Amy is at the hospital, and steps out to see the line up. That brings a furrowed brow to her face. "We'll work on helping everyone, as we can," she calls out. And then there's Luca, with free meat? "Did you bring enough to share?" she asks, givent he line up of folks forming.

Danielle smiles at Luca but wonders at the line herself. At the moment that doesn't stop her from drawing nearer luca to take a meat skewer.

Lucafrase shrugs, handing one to Danielle before sighing dramatically and picking the hungriest-looking people in line. "For you," sometimes the elderly, sometimes children who need focus or a warm... carnivorous treat. Luca is obviously reluctant to give out her precious organ meats, but, crisis.

Mortimer appears to be stuck in an aloof state and manages to wander past the line of people with their buckets, and the children and elderly. A silly little grin sits upon his face as he hears Lucafrase calling out about free meat, "What type of meat is it?"

"I don't what to do for him, Doc, admits one of the woman near the front of the lline. The crying child in her arms the focus of her concern

Danielle takes a chomp of some part of cow or other "good meat" she says with a grin

Amy pauses. She fishes out some coins. "Lucafrase would you buy whatever this will get from that vendor and bring it over? It's going ot be a long evening," she says. Then she moves to the front of the line, lokoing at the woman. "Odd. It kind of looks like most of these people are suffering similar symptoms. Hot or cold, flushed, glassy eyed." A pause. "Why do I feel this is not a good thing?" She moves to that woman, a hand moving to touch the child's forehead. "We'll see what we can do," she says softly to the woman.

Amy nods to Danielle and Mortimer a swell. "Looks like we have a situation!"

Lucafrase points, using a skewer for emphasis? "It's Clyburn's meat. You know Clyburn? He's-- he wouldn't harm anyone." Clyburn waves back, grinning toothlessly! She diplomatically refrains from naming the animal involved. Taking Amy's advice and her coin, she starts distributing snacks to the awaiting. Mortimer is offered one she scrutinizes, curious. "... you OK with spleen? I think this is spleen."

Mortimer is snapped out of whatever put him into the aloofness and turns quickly to Amy with his hands up palms out, curled so only his index fingers are up and waving as he starts responding to Amethyst. "N... No... No. What? No. Is there another spider about?" He turns quickly and looks about frantically just in case. One hand shifts quickly ready to snap, with a look on his face that speaks the volumes of will this snap make a log get up and walk off to sea, or will it cause a fireball to careen over the heads of the crowd? Lucafrase manages to distract Mortimer so that he is no longer looking for an alive spider and is now looking at the offered spleen as if it /Came/ from a spider.

Amethyst rolls with advantage 1 at difficulty 15, using healing, healing nature.

Amy starts to check over each of the incoming patients, thoughtfully. She opens the hospital door, and calls in. "We have a large influx of patients, get everythign ready!" There's a flurry of motion in there, as those who've come and volunteered to help at the hospital hop to it. "Small round bumps, seems like they have a rash," she murmurs, and then loudly. "Alright, if you're feverish with a rash, please stay in this line. If you have any other issues, please form a line starting here." In case there are any others, that is.

Several hungry folks greatfuly accept tid bits from Luca

Mortimer opens his eyes and looks along the crowd, then relaxes, continuing to look along the line and watch Amy for a moment. With a small sigh of relaxed breath, "It doesn't appear that magic is a large component here, or if it was... it's long gone now." Turning to Lucafrase, "Spleen you say? Have any salt?"

Lucafrase barks: "Clyburn! Salt!" and the communal shaker makes its way through various hands 'til Luca can pass it to Mortimer. "Salt."

The patients and staff move to comply with amythest direction though a few look increasingly weak

With his now salted spleen on a stick, Mortimer looks to Amethyst and in between bites with a mouthful of the meat, "Amy, where do you need me?" Pausing to chew and cover his mouth in an attempt to be polite, "Erm. Where can I be most useful?" Shaking his head a little and swallowing the bite, "How can I help?"

Lucafrase hands off the salt-shaker, belting an: "Ow, fff--" and frantically checking to see if she'd stabbed herself with a sharpened meat-holder. She rolls up her cuff, brushing brusquely to dislodge anything...

Amy gets folks started with cold compresses to start reducing fevers. "Are those spots itchy?" she asks the first child. Curious to know if there should be some ointment for them. "get the elderflower peppermint tea brewing," Amy calls. That gets started too, something to help bring down the fever. She continues to look at each of the patients. "Did you all do something together?" she asks, trying to figure out. "Hey, Danielle, Luca, Mortimer, can you start asking questions to try to figure how this is spreading? Where it comes from? It looks like they all have the same thing."

The child shakes his head no with regards to itchiness

Danielle nods and goes to mingle with the crowd to garner answers

Mortimer nods to Amy and turns to the first group he can find, an old man and a child. "Well hello there! Hey do you like magic?" He looks to the kid who appears to hide behind the old man's legs, he shifts his question to the old man, about to ask something different, when the old man responds, "No. I don't like magic." Mortimer shakes his head a little, "Okay then... How about where did the two of you get these bumps?" As he's talking, or failing to talk with the two he spots a moving line, much shorter than this line. Not waiting for the old man to respond, "Um. Amy?" He points at the line of rats.

Amy looks over where Mortimer points, and her eyes widen. "Rats!" she exclaims. "Where did they come from? They're notorious at spreading diseases - I wonder."

Lucafrase fans out, asking questions and offering meats! At the cry of 'rats!' she looks to others, concerned?

The old mamn points. Lots a little bugs . They bite hard. Extra rats around too

Bugs. Rats. Plague. That's where the healer's head goes. She takes a breath and then winces. "Oh. Lovely." A pause. "Alright, let's set up an isolation ward, this is probably contagious." She wrinkles her nose. "You guys know anything about killing rats? Or bugs?"

Lucafrase calls over, "Just termites, I'm afraid!"

Mortimer looks at the line of rats then back to the old man. "Bugs?" Another look over to Amy, "I can try snapping at them. It's anyone's guess if it will work or make them dance."

Lucafrase ohs. "... shipworm too, I s'pose."

Amy look at Mortimer. "At the bugs or the rats?" she asks, bemused. "I can't imagine dancing bugs. Or rats for that matter."

Mortimer rolls with advantage 1 at difficulty 15, using occult, sorcery.
The result is a success.

About half of the rats blink from existance. Some of the older members of the crowd meanwhile look on but seem reluctant to talk

Mortimer shrugs to Amethyst, "We've seen a walking log which then went for a swim... It could be... worse..?" He sounds hesitant in his answer, and then waves his hand at the rats with a little flair and flick of his wrist snapping in their direction as if picking up an imaginary silk cloth and flicking it at the line of the rodents. His eyes are partially closed when the snap occurs and then Mortimer opens his eyes to verify that the rodents are not now in a conga line or scampering towards him or the crowd with anger.

Mortimer rolls with advantage 0 at difficulty 15, using influence.
The result is a success.

Lucafrase *shivers,* out of step with the weather. She dabs her forehead, also gleaming a bit. "Strangest thing," she murmurs.

Amy is busy trying to figure out how best to treat folks. Her first inclination is to manage the fevers and buy time. Though at Luca's words, she turns that way. "Luca - what's strange?"

As half of the rats blink out of existence, or at least out of eyesight, Mortimer turns to the crowd and claps his hands together. "See? Rats... mostly gone." His voice doesn't sound immediately convincing, even to himself and he shakes his head a little at this. Turning to Amy and Lucafrase with a smile and a shrug, then turning back to the crowd. Where he runs a hand through his dark brown wavy hair and flashes his best smile to the closest woman. "Hello. How are you today? We're here to help you, though we can't do a whole lot unless you tell us what's going on, eh?" Mortimer takes a slow step closer to the woman, giving her a long deep stare, reaching out to brush a loose hair out of the way. "You want to tell us what's happening, yes?"

Lucafrase confesses to Amy: "... don't feel so hot. Thought it was a mosquito, but."

the oldwoman starts "Well it's just a tale and I don't know but I seem what you did just now with the rats and well i's thinkink you might as of the knack to coax the power out of the flowers in the words. They say they can as cure nigh near everything if you can have the knack as to

Amy frowns at Luca, shaking her head. "Get in line, settle down." She finds a cold compress and gently puts it on Luca's forehead. "Try to stay cool." She looks up to say, "Nice job with the rats, Mortimer, thanks! Any luck? Where'd Danielle get to?"

Lucafrase takes her place in line, tries to stay calm.

Mortimer keeps his hand near the old woman, running lightly down to her arm to hold her hand in both of his. "Thank you, now which woods? And what does the flower look like?" He looks directly towards her.

The old woman smiles at morty, gap teeth showing "The woods as it at the edge of the city son. You know of some othe. It's a white bulm all closed in on itself like. Word is you got coax it open and get the nectar what's inside. They's a trick but I bet you real good at coaxing aint ya son

Amy looks to see Mortimer si still schmoozing, and she goes back to dealing with patients, trying to keep them alive. "Let's get folks inside in case it rains, or unicorn forbid, snows again," she says. "Luca you better hang in there. We'll figure this out."

"Thank you, you're just precious aren't you?" Mortimer keeps trying to coax a little more information, "Inside the fog then." He nods a little, thanking her again before looking over to Amethyst. "There's a possibility that a cure can be found in... inside the fog, in the woods."
